What is concrete
- Concrete is a construction material .
- It is a Composition of Cement, Fine aggregate( Sand) and Coarse Aggregate Mixed with water.
- Concrete is very necessary and useful material for construction work.
Binding Material
- Binding material is a main element of a concrete material mix.
- Cement is the most commonly used binding material.
- When water is mixed with the cement a paste is created that coat the aggregate within the mix.
- The paste harden, binds the aggregates, and forms a stone like substance.
Aggregate
- Aggregate is an aggregation of non-metallic minerals obtained in particulate form and can be processed and use for civil construction and highway construction.
Aggregate is classified in two Type
- Coarse Aggregate
- Fine Aggregate
Water
- Water is required to with chemicals react with the cement ( Process is called hydration ) and to supply workability with the concrete .
Grade of concrete
Grade of Concrete are classified into three Categories
- Ordinary Concrete :- Which is used in PCC or Where reinforcement of steel is not needed.
- Standard Concrete :- Which is used in RCC work.
- High Strength Concrete :- The concrete used for high rise structure such as skyscrapers, bridge and dam etc.
