What Is Cement :-

  • Cement is a building Material used in  construction projects worldwide.
  • Cement is building agent that’s mixed with sand, gravel, And water to form concrete, which provides strength and durability to structure.

Type of cement :-

1. Ordinary Portland Cement

  • This is the most common used Cement in construction project worldwide.
  • its a versatile cement that can be used in variety of application from general construction to precast concrete products.
  • OBC is known for it strength durability and work ability making it suitable for a variety of Construction application.
  • it’s commonly used in the construction of building Bridge Road and other structure.
  • OPC is versatile and can be used in combination with other material such as aggregates to create different type of concrete mixes.

2. Portland Pozzolana Cement

  • Portland Pozzolana Cement ( PPC) is a type of hydraulic cement that’s made by blending Portland cement with pozzolanic materials, such as fly ash or silica fume.
  • The Pozzolanic materials improve the workability and durability of the cement, making it sutable for a variety of construction applications.
  • PPC is commonly used in home building construction and mass concrete structure, such as dams and bridges, where durability is a critical factor.
  • Portland Pozzolana cement is used to construct dams, retaining wall, marine structure, plastering, bridge footing, and masonry mortar production.
  • Compair to regular Portland cement, the cement is denser and more impenetrable.

3. Rapid Hardening cement

  • Rapid-hardening cement is a type of hydraulic cement that’s specially designed to gain strength quickly.
  • Rapid-hardening cement is used in situation where fast seting concrete is required.
  • This cement is used to make construction of pavement, precast concrete product, and repair work.

4. Extra Rapid Hardening Cement

  • Extra Rapid-hardening Cement is a type of hydraulic cement that’s similar to rapid-hardening cement, but it gain strength even faster.
  • It’s made by grinding Ordinary Portland cement clinker with a higher amount of calcium chloride.
  • Extra Rapid-hardening cement is used in situation where fast-setting concrete with high early strength is required, such as in cold weather conditions or emergency repair work.
  • It’s commonly used in the construction of airport runways, industrial floors, and precast concrete products.

5. Quick Setting Cement

  • Quick setting cement ( QSC )is a type of hydraulic cement that’s design to set and harden quickly.
  • It’s uses as repair of water pipes, sewers, and tunnels, grouting and underwater concreting.
  • It’s combination of materials accelerates the setting time of cement, allowing it to reach it’s initial set in just a few minutes, similar to that of fast setting concrete.
  • It does note reach a higher strength rate then Portland cement but loses its plasticity more quickly.

6. Low Heat Cement

  • Low Heat cement Is a type of hydraulic cement that is specially designed to produce less heat during the Hydration process.
  • It’s made by reducing the amount of tricalcium aluminate by 6 %.
  • This result in slower strength gain and lower heat of hydration, making it ideal for use in large concrete structure that are pron to cracking due to heat build up.
  • Low heat cement is commonly used in the construction of dam, nuclear power plant, retaining wall, slab, piers and large mass concrete structure.
  • Low heat Portland cement is used for construction that require water to be retained.
  • Since this type of cement does not crack or shrink, it is used.

7. Sulphat Resisting Cement

  • Sulphate resisting cement is a type of hydraulic cement that is design to resist the damaging effect of sulphate salt present in soil and groundwater.
  • Sulphate resistance cement is commonly used in construction project where the soil or groundwater has a high sulphate content, such as in coastal area, mines, and Canal linings, retaining wall.

8. Blast Furnace Slag Cement

  • Blast furnace Slag cement, also known as slag cement, is a type of hydraulic cement made by mixing Portland cement clinker with granulated blast furnace slag.
  • The slag is a by product of the iron making process and is ground into a finepowder which is the next with Portland cement this combination result in a cement with lower heat of hydration better or ability and improve durability blast furnace flag cement is commonly used in mass concrete project such dam of higher building and industrial structure.

9. High Alumina Cement

  • High Alumina cement is a type of hydraulic cement that’s made by melting and grinding bauxite and lime together.
  • The resulting cement has an excellent level of strength and durability.
  • High Alumina cement is commonly used in the construction of refactory concrete, which can with stand high temperature and Harsh chemical environment.
  • it is also used in the construction of chemical plant, furnace and kilns, where it is resistance to high temperature and corrosive Chemicals makes it an ideal choice.
  • It is dark and resistance to chemical attack particularly from sulphate and sea water.

10. White Cement

  • White cement as its name suggest has a high degree of whiteness.
  • white cement is used Primarily for decorative purposes such as in the construction of architectural elements precast concrete products And Terrazzo flooring.
  • it can also be used in combination with pigment to produce a wide range of coloured concrete finishes.

11. Coloured Cement

  • Colour cement, also known as pigmented cement it is a type of hydraulic cement that is mixed with pigments ( 5 to 10% pigment )  to achieve a range of colours.
  • The pigment used in coloured cement can be synthetic or natural and are available in a variety of shades.
  • Colour cement is used Primarily for decorative purposes such as in the construction of concrete countertops, flooring, and paving.
  • The use of colour cement can enhance the aesthetic appeal of a project and give it a unique look.
  • Colour cement is produced using white or grey cement as a base if the base of the colour cement is water then grey the price cause up.

12. Air entraining Cement

  • Ordinary Portland cement is ground with a small amount of air entering material to create air entering cement.
  • Air entering cement is a hydraulic cement that contain air entering agents such as resins and sodium salt to create macroscopic air bubbles within the concrete mix.
  • Air entering cement requires less water to achieve a specific consistency than ordinary Portland cement and other types of cement.
  • it’s commonly used in construction projects that require frost resistance such as concrete pavement, bridges and building located in cold climates.
  • However, since air entrainment weakens concrete, the amount of air that is thus entrained shouldn’t be greater than 5%.

13. Expansive cement

  • Expansive cement is a unique type that when combined with water, create a paste that expand significantly more after setting then Portland cement paste.
  • Expensive cement is a type of hydraulic cement that’s designed to expand slightly after setting.
  • Expensive cement is commonly used in a construction projects where a tight fit is required such as precast concrete units and Bridge Bearings.
  • it is also used in grouting and shotcrete applications where the expansion can help fill voids and gaps.
  • Expensive cement can also be used to compensate for the shrinkage of concrete due to temperature changes or drying.

14. Hydrophobic cement

  • According to the name of the cement, hydro means water and povic means agent the production of hydrophobic cement which resist detoration when kept it on favourable storage conditions.
  • Hydrophobic cement is a specialised type of Portland cement that’s designed to set and harden underwater.
  • it’s made by blending Portland cement clinker with special Additive that help it hydrate and set even in the presence of water.
  • Hydrographic cement is commonly used in Marine and underwater construction project such as buildings dams, bridges, and underwater tunnels.
  • it is also used in the construction of swimming pools, water storage tanks and sewage treatment plants.

15. Portland Limestone cement

  • Portland limestone cement ( PLC ) is a type of blended cement that’s made by inter-grinding Portland cement cleaner and 5 to 15% limestone.
  • PLC has similar properties to OPC but it typically has a lower carbon footprint and generates less heat during the hydration process.
  • PLC is commonly used in construction projects where sustainability is a concern such as green buildings and infrastructure.
  • it is also suitable for use in general-purpose concrete applications such as pavement, foundations and precast units.
